In February 2026, I arrived at Beijing International Airport for the first time. After a long international flight, my main question was simple: what’s the easiest way to get into the city?
Honestly, it turned out to be much easier than I expected. Beijing has a very well-organized transport system, and whether you’re a budget traveler or want comfort, there are plenty of options.
In this guide, I’ll share everything you need to know — based on both my experience and updated prices — so you can plan your arrival smoothly.
About Beijing
Beijing is the capital of China and one of the most fascinating cities in the world. It blends ancient history with modern life — from the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square to skyscrapers and high-speed trains.
The city is huge, so distances can be longer than you expect. That’s why choosing the right transport from the airport is important.

Distance & Travel Time
- Distance from airport to city center: ~25–32 km
- Travel time: 30 to 90 minutes depending on traffic and transport

All Transportation Options (PEK → City Center)

1. Airport Express Train (Best Overall)
💰 Price: ~25 RMB (~$3–4)
⏱ Time: 20–30 minutes
🕒 Hours: ~6:30 AM – 10:30 PM
This is the cheapest and most efficient option.
- Direct train from airport to:
- Dongzhimen Station
- Sanyuanqiao Station
- From there, you connect to the Beijing metro
👉 Why I recommend it:
- No traffic delays
- Very cheap
- Easy to navigate
👉 Important tip:
You’ll still need a metro ride (3–7 RMB) to reach your hotel.
2. 🚕 Taxi (Most Convenient)
Price: 100–160 RMB + toll (10–15 RMB)
Night price: +20%
Time: 40–70 minutes (can be longer in traffic)
This is the easiest option, especially if:
- You have heavy luggage
- You arrive late at night
👉 Key details:
- Official taxis are available 24/7
- Meter starts at ~13 RMB
- Always use the official taxi queue
👉 My tip:
Have your hotel address written in Chinese to avoid confusion.
3. Airport Shuttle Bus (Cheapest Alternative)
💰 Price: 20–30 RMB
⏱ Time: 70–90 minutes
- Multiple routes across Beijing
- Stops at major areas and hotels
👉 Good for:
- Budget travelers
- If your hotel is on the route
👉 Downside:
- Slower due to traffic
- Less convenient than train
4. Ride-Hailing (Didi)
💰 Price: Similar to taxi (~100–150 RMB)
⏱ Time: 40–60 minutes
- China’s version of Uber
- You can see price in advance
👉 Tips:
- Download app before arrival
- Works best with Alipay
5. Private Transfer (Most Comfortable)
💰 Price: 300–500 RMB

- Fixed price (no surprises)
👉 Best for:
- Families
- First-time travelers
