If you’re arriving in Beijing through the massive Beijing Daxing International Airport, getting to the city center might feel confusing at first—but trust me, it’s actually very smooth and well-organized.

I recently visited Beijing and stayed there for 4 days, and during my trip, I personally used public transport to reach the city. In this guide, I’ll explain all the best options so you can choose what suits your budget and comfort.

Distance & Travel Time

Beijing Transport

Beijing Daxing Airport is located around 45–50 km from the city center.

  • Travel time: 30 minutes to 1 hour
  • Best option: Airport Express Train

Beijing Metro

1. Airport Express Train (Best Option)

The easiest and fastest way is the Daxing Airport Express.

Route:

  • From Daxing Airport Express
  • Connects to Caoqiao Station
  • Further connects to Beijing Metro Line 10

Details:

  • Travel time: ~30 minutes
  • Cost: Around ¥35
  • Frequency: Every 10 minutes

Night Bus to City Centre

During my trip, I landed at Beijing Daxing International Airport around 1:00 AM, so the Airport Express train was not operating at that time. Instead, I chose to take a night airport bus, which is one of the best options for late-night arrivals.

I boarded a night bus directly from the airport to Beijing Railway Station. The process was smooth, and even at night, there were clear signs inside the airport to guide passengers to the bus counters. The bus was comfortable and safe, and it took around 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the city.

After reaching Beijing Railway Station, I took a taxi to my hostel since it was late at night and the metro was closed. Taxis were easily available outside the station, and the ride was quick and convenient.

2. Beijing Subway (Cheapest Option)

If you want to save money, you can continue your journey using the Beijing Subway.

How it works:

  • Take Airport Express → Caoqiao
  • Change to Line 10 → Connect to your destination

Cost:

  • Total around ¥40–¥50

Best for:

Budget travelers and backpackers

3. Airport Bus (Direct but Slower)

There are several airport buses connecting Daxing Airport to different parts of Beijing.

Details:

  • Cost: ¥30–¥40
  • Travel time: 60–90 minutes

Best for:

If your hotel is near a bus stop and you want a direct route without changing lines.

4. Taxi / Ride-Hailing

You can also take a taxi or use apps like DiDi.

Details:

  • Cost: ¥150–¥250
  • Travel time: 45–70 minutes

5. Private Transfer (Most Comfortable)

If you’re traveling with family or lots of luggage, booking a private transfer is the easiest option.

Details:

  • Cost: Higher (~¥300+)
  • Door-to-door service

My 4-Day Stay Experience in Beijing

During my 4 days in Beijing, I stayed in the city center and mostly used the metro system. It’s very efficient, cheap, and connects almost every tourist attraction.

Some places I visited:

  • Forbidden City
  • Tiananmen Square
  • Great Wall of China

The public transport made my trip very easy, and I highly recommend using it instead of taxis to save money.

Getting from Beijing Daxing Airport to the city center is simple and hassle-free. If you want the best mix of speed, comfort, and cost, go for the Airport Express Train.

Based on my experience, Beijing is very traveler-friendly, and even if it’s your first time in China, you won’t face major issues navigating the city.
