I’ve personally traveled across BakuSheki, and Ganja, and I can confidently say that these three cities together give you a well-rounded view of Azerbaijan — from modern architecture and ancient history to mountain charm and cultural heritage. If you’re planning a 10-day trip, this itinerary is perfect to soak in the best of Azerbaijan.


BAKU – 4 Days

Start your journey in the dynamic capital city of Azerbaijan.

Highlights in Baku:

  • Icherisheher (Old City) – Discover the Maiden TowerShirvanshah’s Palace, and walk through narrow cobbled lanes filled with culture and history.
  • Heydar Aliyev Center – A modern architectural masterpiece.
  • Upland Park & Flame Towers – For panoramic views of Baku and the Caspian Sea.
  • Baku Boulevard & Carpet Museum – Enjoy a relaxing walk along the waterfront and visit one of the most unique museums.
  • Gobustan Petroglyphs & Mud Volcanoes – A half-day trip to see ancient rock art and natural phenomena.
  • Ateshgah & Yanar Dag – Visit the famous fire temple and the eternally burning mountain just outside the city.

GANJA – 3 Days

  • Shah Abbas Mosque & Caravanserai – Beautiful examples of Islamic architecture.

Getting Around Azerbaijan

  • Baku to Sheki: 5–6 hours by bus or shared taxi.
  • Sheki to Ganja: Around 4–5 hours by road.
  • Ganja to Baku: Either by train or road (4–5 hours).
