Back in February 2025, I spent 4 days exploring Manila, and honestly—it surprised me in the best way. A mix of old and new, chaos and calm, culture and city vibes. If you’re heading to the Philippines and planning a short stop in the capital, here’s a simple 3-day itinerary to help you make the most of it.
Day 1: Dive Into Manila’s History & Local Life
Start your trip with some history. Head to Intramuros, the old walled city. It’s like stepping into the past—cobblestone streets, Spanish-style churches, and heritage buildings all around. Don’t miss Fort Santiago and San Agustin Church—they’re two of the most iconic spots in the area.
After that, take a stroll around Rizal Park (Luneta). It’s a nice open area where locals hang out, and it holds a lot of meaning for Filipinos because of José Rizal, the national hero.
End the day with a sunset by Manila Bay. It’s a simple moment, but watching the sun dip into the water with city life buzzing around you—it just hits different.
Day 2: Museums, Markets, and a Bit of City Buzz
Start your morning with a visit to the National Museum Complex. The buildings are beautiful, and the exhibits give you a quick intro to Filipino history, art, and natural wonders. And the best part? Entry is free.
From there, head to Quiapo or Binondo. If you want a taste of local Manila energy, this is it. Quiapo is packed with markets, people, and real day-to-day vibes. In Binondo, you’ll find the world’s oldest Chinatown—lots of character, and worth a walk around.
Later, swing by the Mall of Asia. Whether you’re into shopping or just people-watching, it’s one of the biggest malls in Asia and has everything under one roof—from fashion to local crafts to random fun zones.
Day 3: Chill in Modern Manila
By Day 3, it’s time to slow down a bit and soak in Manila’s modern side. If you’re staying in Makati, walk through Ayala Triangle Gardens—a green escape in the middle of all the business towers.
Then head over to Bonifacio Global City (BGC). It feels like a different world—clean streets, art murals, modern buildings. Super walkable and full of open-air spaces.
If you’re in the mood for something fun and educational, check out The Mind Museum in BGC. It’s interactive, and not just for kids. You can easily spend an hour or two here.
Wrap up the trip with some last-minute souvenir shopping. Glorietta, Greenbelt, or Market! Market! are all solid picks depending on where you’re staying.
