Hi there, I’m Chandan, an avid traveler who’s been fortunate enough to explore over 20 countries across the globe. In February 2026, I decided to revisit the Philippines and spend some time in one of the most iconic tropical paradises in the world—Boracay. I stayed for four unforgettable days, soaking in the sun, sand, and vibrant local culture. Today, I want to share my detailed experience traveling from Caticlan Airport to Boracay and give tips for anyone planning their own adventure.
Arrival at Caticlan Airport

Caticlan Airport, officially known as Godofredo P. Ramos Airport, is the main gateway to Boracay. Nestled in the province of Aklan, it’s a small yet convenient airport primarily serving domestic flights from Manila, Cebu, and other Philippine cities. When I arrived in February 2020, the airport had a cozy, welcoming vibe—much smaller than other international hubs, which made navigation stress-free.
After landing, I collected my luggage and prepared for the next leg of the journey: getting to Boracay Island itself. Unlike many islands, Boracay doesn’t have a major airport right on the island. So, a short but scenic transfer is necessary.
From Caticlan Airport to Boracay
Here’s how I made my way to the island:
1. Transfer to Caticlan Jetty Port

The first step is a land transfer from Caticlan Airport to the Caticlan Jetty Port. It’s about 5–10 minutes by tricycle or shuttle van. When I was there, the tricycles were easy to find just outside the airport terminal. Make sure you agree on a price beforehand; I paid 100 PHP, which is standard.
2. Boat Ride to Boracay
Before boarding the boat to Boracay, I was asked to pay a small environmental and tourism fee, which is collected at the Caticlan Jetty Port. I paid total 800PHP for Ferry tickets+ all others fees, fees or taxes goes toward maintaining the island’s cleanliness and sustainable tourism programs. It’s a small price to pay for helping preserve such a beautiful destination.

From the jetty, you take a 15–20 minute boat ride to Boracay Island. Boats run frequently throughout the day, and tickets cost around 25–50 PHP. As we approached the island, the crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches were simply breathtaking—this is what makes Boracay famous worldwide.
3. Arrival at Boracay

Once you disembark, you’ll find local tricycles and shuttle services ready to take you to your accommodation. I stayed in Station 2, which is central and convenient for accessing restaurants, shops, and the beach. The tricycle ride from the port to my hotel was quick and easy, giving me my first taste of Boracay life.
Exploring Boracay

During my four-day stay, I made sure to experience everything Boracay is known for:
- White Beach – The iconic powdery sand and sunset views were even more stunning than the pictures I had seen.
- Island Hopping – I joined a boat tour visiting nearby islands like Crocodile Island and Puka Beach. The snorkeling and clear waters made it a magical experience.
- Local Cuisine – From fresh seafood to local delicacies, I savored every meal. Don’t miss trying the halo-halo dessert!
- Nightlife – Station 2 comes alive at night with bars and live music. It’s perfect for travelers wanting a mix of relaxation and fun.

Tips for Travelers
- Timing – February is an ideal time to visit, as it’s dry season with comfortable temperatures.
- Cash – Small boats and tricycles often require cash, so have pesos handy.
- Sustainability – Boracay has undergone environmental restoration; be mindful of waste and plastic usage.
- Booking – Reserve accommodations and transfers in advance to avoid the crowds, especially during peak season.

Traveling to Boracay in February 2020 was another highlight in my journey of visiting over 20 countries. What I love about traveling is discovering how each place offers something unique—the crystal-clear waters of Boracay were a reminder of why the Philippines is such a special destination. From Caticlan Airport to the island’s serene beaches, every step of the journey felt effortless and exciting.
If you’re planning your own adventure to Boracay, following this route will make your trip smooth, enjoyable, and memorable.
