I visited Bali in February 2025, and honestly, it exceeded all my expectations. I stayed in Kuta, Ubud, and Nusa Penida, and each location offered something completely unique—from bustling beaches to spiritual vibes and rugged coastal cliffs.
Funny thing is, I didn’t even plan to visit Bali initially. But when I was already in Southeast Asia, I felt drawn to this island. The journey turned out to be more meaningful because I truly lived the island life—slow travel, real experiences, and unplanned surprises.
Week 1: Arrive and Unwind in Kuta and Seminyak
Base: Kuta (4–5 nights)
Kuta is the perfect place to begin your Bali adventure. It’s lively, social, and easy to navigate—great for first-time visitors. My first few days here were all about relaxing, meeting other travelers, and watching the sun melt into the Indian Ocean every evening. Whether you want beach fun, surf lessons, or just a good massage, Kuta sets the tone for what’s to come.
- Sunset at Kuta Beach
- Uluwatu Temple and Kecak Fire Dance
- Seafood dinner at Jimbaran Bay
- Day trip to Tanah Lot Temple
- Nightlife in Legian and Seminyak
Week 2: Cultural Core in Ubud
Base: Ubud (7 nights)
Ubud felt like the heart of Bali to me. It’s where I slowed down, explored traditions, and reconnected with myself. The rice fields and temples were beautiful, but what stood out most was the peaceful energy of the town. Every morning began with birdsong and fresh mountain air, and every evening ended with art markets or gentle walks along the river. It’s a must-stay for anyone seeking more than just beach vibes.
- Tegallalang Rice Terraces
- Monkey Forest Sanctuary
- Mount Batur Sunrise Trek
- Campuhan Ridge Walk
- Balinese cooking class and yoga sessions
- Visit temples like Gunung Kawi and Goa Gajah
- Explore local art galleries and Ubud Market
Week 3: Island Escape in Nusa Penida

Base: Nusa Penida (4–5 nights)
If you’re craving raw nature and breathtaking views, Nusa Penida will steal your heart. The cliffs were dramatic, the waters were bluer than I imagined, and the adventure was real. I remember riding a scooter through quiet mountain roads with the ocean on one side—it was both thrilling and peaceful. This was my favorite part of the trip for landscape photography and adventure travel.

- Kelingking Beach
- Diamond Beach and Atuh Cliff
- Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong
- Snorkeling at Crystal Bay
- Scooter ride through the island

Week 4: Explore Bali’s Hidden Corners and Optional Island Add-ons
Base: Split between Nusa Dua, Sanur, Canggu, and the Gili Islands
Even though I didn’t visit these places during my Bali trip, they’re high on my list. If you have the time, these spots will add a whole new flavor to your itinerary. Canggu is great for digital nomads, while Nusa Dua gives you a touch of luxury. And the Gili Islands? They’re pure island paradise. Think sunsets, bicycles, beach bars, and snorkeling with turtles.
- Nusa Dua: Luxury beaches and family resorts
- Sanur: Sunrise walks and ferry access to Nusa Islands
- Canggu: Surfing, cafes, coworking spaces, and nightlife
- Gili Islands (Trawangan, Air, Meno): Island hopping and snorkeling
Where I Stayed
During my month in Bali, I stayed in Kuta, Ubud, and Nusa Penida. Each place offered something different:
- Kuta for energy and easy access
- Ubud for peace, nature, and culture
- Nusa Penida for adventure and scenery
There’s something for every traveler—backpackers, mid-range explorers, and luxury seekers. Use platforms like Agoda, Booking.com, Hostelworld, or Airbnb to find the best deals.
Travel Tips for Bali
- Local SIM: Buy one at the airport (Telkomsel or XL are best)
- Currency: Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) – many places prefer cash
- Getting Around: Rent a scooter if confident, or use Grab/Gojek
- Dress Code: Wear sarongs when visiting temples
- Weather: February is part of the rainy season—expect showers, but also fewer crowds and lush greenery
Even after spending a whole month in Bali, I felt like I had only scratched the surface. This island is not just about beaches—it’s about culture, kindness, energy, nature, and those quiet magical moments that happen when you least expect them.
