In February 2025, I visited Ho Chi Minh City with my wife. This was my second trip to Vietnam โ€” my first time, I explored the charming capital of Hanoi, and this time, I wanted to experience the southern vibe of the country. So far, Iโ€™ve traveled to 18 countries, and Vietnam remains one of the most memorable destinations for its history, culture, and food. Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, amazed us with its energy, heritage, and buzzing streets.

Here are the Top 5 things to do in Ho Chi Minh City:

1. Explore the War Remnants Museum

A powerful museum that gives deep insight into the Vietnam War through real photos, weapons, and stories. Itโ€™s an emotional but important stop to understand the country’s past.

2. Visit Ben Thanh Market

This vibrant market is perfect for shopping and food lovers. From souvenirs and clothes to local dishes like pho and banh mi, itโ€™s a great place to dive into Vietnamese daily life.

3. Discover the Cu Chi Tunnels

Take a journey underground to explore the famous tunnels used during the Vietnam War. Youโ€™ll learn about how people lived, fought, and survived โ€” a fascinating and unique experience.

4. Enjoy a Saigon River Dinner Cruise

A relaxing evening on the river with traditional food and live music. Itโ€™s a peaceful break from the cityโ€™s hustle and offers beautiful views of Ho Chi Minhโ€™s skyline at night.

5. Walk Around Nguyen Hue Walking Street

A lively street where locals and tourists gather. From street performers to local snacks and a fun atmosphere, itโ€™s the perfect place to enjoy the city vibe, especially in the evening.
