Where to Stay in Bishkek

When I visited Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in December 2023, I didn’t quite know what to expect. This Central Asian capital turned out to be a charming mix of Soviet-era architecture, modern cafes, snowy mountains in the distance, and incredibly warm locals. Whether you’re stopping by on a Silk Road adventure or diving deep into Kyrgyz culture, where you stay in Bishkek can truly shape your experience.

Here’s a helpful guide based on my 4-day stay in Bishkek.

If you’re new to Bishkek and want to be close to everything—cafes, museums, parks, and public transport—staying near Ala-Too Square is a great option. This area is central, safe, and walkable, making it convenient for both sightseeing and exploring the local lifestyle.

I chose to stay near Oak Park, which offered a peaceful vibe with easy access to both the city center and local markets. The place I booked had cozy heating (a must in December), friendly hosts, and easy booking online.
