I visited Cambodia in February 2025 with my wife, and we spent 5 incredible days exploring the country. This itinerary is based entirely on our experience — not some generic checklist — so it’s built with real insights, timing, and traveler rhythm in mind.
Day 1: Discover Phnom Penh – Cambodia’s Capital

• Arrive in Phnom Penh and check into your hotel
• Visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda
• Explore the National Museum of Cambodia
• Walk along the Riverside Promenade
• Optional: End the day with a sunset cruise on the Mekong River

Day 2: Dive into Cambodia’s History

• Visit the haunting Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S-21)
• Continue to the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek
• Shop or wander through the bustling Russian Market
• Stroll through the vibrant Phnom Penh Night Market for local products, clothes, and live music

Day 3: Travel to Siem Reap

• Take a bus to Siem Reap
• Check in to your hotel in the city center
• Visit the Angkor National Museum for temple history and context
• Explore the Old Market (Phsar Chas) and surrounding streets
• Spend the evening at Pub Street or enjoy a show at Phare Circus

Day 4: Explore the Angkor Temples

• Start early with sunrise at Angkor Wat
• Head to Angkor Thom and visit the impressive Bayon Temple
• Continue to the atmospheric Ta Prohm Temple (the one with the giant tree roots)
• Return to Siem Reap for a relaxed afternoon or local shopping

Day 5: Floating Village & Departure

• Take a half-day trip to Tonle Sap Lake to visit Kompong Phluk or Chong Kneas Floating Village
• Discover life on the water and explore Cambodia’s unique stilt-house communities
• Head back to Siem Reap, pack up, and depart for the airport
