Vietnam has always been a fascinating destination for me, and in February 2025, I had the opportunity to visit Ho Chi Minh City with my wife. This was my second trip to Vietnam, having previously explored Hanoi in 2022. During this trip, I chose to take Bus 109 from the airport to the city center, which turned out to be an affordable and convenient option.

Bus 109 is an airport shuttle service that connects Tan Son Nhat Airport to the city center. It is operated by Satsco and is designed specifically for tourists and travelers.

  • Where to Find It: The bus departs from Pillar 12 outside the International Terminal (Terminal 2) and Pillar A18 outside the Domestic Terminal (Terminal 1).
  • Operating Hours: 5:30 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Frequency: Every 20–30 minutes
  • Duration: Around 30 minutes to reach the city center
  • Fare: Approximately 15,000 VND
  • Final Stop: 23/9 Park (September 23 Park), near Ben Thanh Market
  • Route Highlights: The bus passes through major areas such as Pham Ngu Lao, Ben Thanh Market, and Nguyen Hue Street.

If you prefer other modes of transport, here are some additional options:

  • Bus 152: A cheaper public bus (around 6,000 VND) but with limited luggage space.
  • Taxis & Ride-Hailing: Taxis like Mai Linh and Vinasun cost around 150,000–200,000 VND (~6–8 USD).
  • Airport Shuttle Services: Some hotels offer private shuttles, which can be pre-arranged.

For a budget-friendly, comfortable, and easy way to get to the city center, Bus 109 is a great option for travelers arriving at Ho Chi Minh City’s airport.
