The Caucasus region, nestled between the Caspian and Black Seas, is a treasure trove of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. Traveling through Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia offers a unique blend of ancient traditions and modern allure. This winter, my wife and I embarked on a memorable journey from Abu Dhabi to explore the captivating cities of Baku, Tbilisi, and Yerevan. From the modern skyscrapers of Baku to the ancient streets of Tbilisi and the cultural richness of Yerevan, our trip was filled with unforgettable moments and adventures. Here’s a detailed day-by-day itinerary of our vacation, showcasing why these destinations should be on every traveler’s list.

Day 1: Arrival in Baku, Azerbaijan

  • Evening: Arrived in Baku from Abu Dhabi. We Ordered KFC and eat but if will arrive in day so after Checkin you can go Nirami Street.

Day 2: Discovering Baku

  • Morning:
    • Activity: Visit the Flame Towers and enjoy the panoramic views of the city.
    • Why Visit: The Flame Towers are a modern symbol of Baku, representing its blend of tradition and progress.
  • Afternoon:
    • Activity: Explore the Old City (Icherisheher), visiting the Maiden Tower and Shirvanshah’s Palace.
    • Why Visit: The Old City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing Baku’s historical roots and architectural splendor.
  • Evening:
    • Activity: Visit Nizami Street and Dinner at a Night food market.
    • Why Visit: Night food market are located next to the Nizami Street, There you can try local food, Pizza, Pasta etc. in really low Prices.

Day 3: Baku to Shaki

  • Morning:
    • Activity: Checked out of the hotel in Baku and took a bus to Shaki.
    • Why Visit: The bus journey offers a glimpse of Azerbaijan’s countryside, with its rolling hills and picturesque landscapes.
  • Afternoon:
    • Activity: Arrived in Shaki and checked into a charming guesthouse. Visited the Shaki Khan’s Palace.
  • Why Visit: The palace is renowned for its stunning stained glass windows and intricate craftsmanship, providing a window into the region’s rich history.
  • Evening:
    • Activity: Dinner at a local eatery.
    • Why Visit: Shaki offers a unique culinary experience, with local dishes that differ from Baku’s cuisine.

Day 4: Exploring Shaki

  • Morning:
    • Activity: Walked through Shaki’s cobbled streets and visited local markets.
    • Why Visit: The markets are vibrant with local crafts and produce, offering a taste of Shaki’s daily life.
  • Afternoon:
    • Activity: Took a leisurely hike to Gelersen-Gorersen Fortress.
    • Why Visit: The fortress offers stunning views and a sense of adventure, perfect for those who enjoy a bit of history and nature.

    • Activity: Relaxed at the guesthouse with a cozy dinner.
    • Why Visit: The guesthouse provides a homey atmosphere, ideal for unwinding after a day of exploration.

Day 5: Return to Baku by Bus and Flight to Tbilisi

  • Morning:
    • Activity: Checked out of the guesthouse in Shaki and took a bus back to Baku.
    • Why Visit: Returning to Baku allows for a brief recap of the city’s highlights.
  • Afternoon:
    • Activity: Arrived in Baku and headed to the airport for a flight to Tbilisi, Georgia.
    • Why Visit: Flying to Tbilisi introduces a new chapter in the journey, with Georgia’s distinct culture and history awaiting.
  • Evening:
    • Activity: Checked into the hotel in Tbilisi and had dinner at a Georgian restaurant.
    • Why Visit: Georgian cuisine, with its famous khachapuri and khinkali, is a delightful culinary experience.

Day 6: Exploring Tbilisi

  • Morning:
    • Activity: Metekhi Virgin Mary Assumption Church
  • Afternoon:
    • Activity: Walk through the Old Town, visiting the sulfur baths and Sioni Cathedral.
    • Why Visit: Tbilisi’s Old Town is a blend of architectural styles and historical sites, showcasing the city’s rich heritage.
  • Evening:
    • Activity: Dinner in the Old Town and a stroll along Rustaveli Avenue.

Day 7: New Year’s Eve in Tbilisi

  • Morning:
    • Activity: Visit Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi.

    • Activity: Celebrated New Year’s Eve at Freedom Square, watched fireworks.

Day 8-9: Enjoying Tbilisi

    • Activity: Arrived in Yerevan, checked into the hotel, visited the Cascade Complex.
