Here’s a detailed guide on how to get from BKK to Pattaya without breaking the bank.

1. Direct Bus from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya

One of the most convenient and cost-effective ways to travel from BKK to Pattaya is by taking a direct bus. Here are the steps:

  • Locate the Bus Terminal: After landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, head to the first floor (Ground Level) and follow the signs to the bus terminal. Look for the “Pattaya” bus counters.

  • Buy a Ticket: Tickets can be purchased at the bus counter or Online. The ticket prices from 141 THB (Approximately $3.8 to $4 USD)
  • Bus Schedule: Buses from BKK to Pattaya operate frequently, with services running every 30 to 60 minutes from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
  • Journey Time: The bus journey takes around hours, depending on traffic conditions.

2. Shared Minivan

Another budget-friendly option is to take a shared minivan from the airport:

  • Locate the Minivan Service: Minivans to Pattaya can be found at the same bus terminal on the first floor of the airport.
  • Ticket Cost: A shared minivan ticket costs around 200 to 400 THB (approximately $6 to $12 USD).
  • Departure Schedule: Minivans operate throughout the day, but their schedule may not be as frequent as the buses. It’s best to check at the counter for the next available departure.
  • Journey Duration: The minivan ride typically takes around 2 hours, subject to traffic.

3. Airport Rail Link and Bus Combination

For those who prefer a combination of train and bus travel, this option is quite economical:

  • Airport Rail Link: Take the Airport Rail Link from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Makkasan Station. The fare is about 35 to 45 THB (approximately $1 to $1.30 USD).
  • Transfer to Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekkamai): From Makkasan Station, take the MRT (subway) to Ekkamai Station (another 20 to 30 THB or $0.60 to $0.90 USD). The Eastern Bus Terminal is adjacent to Ekkamai Station.
  • Bus to Pattaya: At the Eastern Bus Terminal, purchase a bus ticket to Pattaya. Tickets range from 108 to 150 THB (approximately $3 to $4.50 USD). Buses depart every 30 to 60 minutes from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
